Before becoming a physician assistant (PA), Joy received a master’s degree in biological anthropology and archaeology and researched such topics as disease manifestations in skeleton/dental remains. She then realized her true passion was in medicine and spent time working in women’s health and in STD prevention before becoming a PA.
She has been fortunate to have traveled both throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her favorite destinations include India, Turkey, Kenya, Egypt, Mexico, Seattle, Austin, New York, Los Angeles, Denver and northern Montana. She loves outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, kayaking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and downhill skiing.
She has worked with a diverse patient population, including migrant farmworkers and the homeless, and also helped start a teen pregnancy prevention program in Washington State.
Joy moved back to Atlanta to be closer to her family and is happy to be able to spend more time with her two nephews.
